 MW810

Tempest Mk.II HA591, ex-RAF MW810, as found at Poona in India in 1979.

MW810 at the New England Air Museum in August 1988.

Mark Morris took these two photos in Breckenridge, TX in the mid-1990's, buried in a hangar out behind Ezell's restoration shop.

MW810 was one of a number shipped to the UK from India by Doug Arnold, then one of 6 acquired by Nick Grace. It was the one in worst condition and was part of a complex deal to enable Grace to get his hands on a Spit 16 owned by a Belfast Museum - basically a 3-wat swap with New England Air Museum (Connecticut USA) getting the Tempest and Belfast the ex-NEAM Short Sealand. MW810 is now owned by and stored at Nelson Ezell, Texas USA.

 Progress report:

In September 2005 The Ezell Aviation Team reports:

The Webmaster was in contact with The Ezell Aviation Team in September 2005 and received some news. "The Flying Bulls P-38", which is the current project, has become a "time is of the essence" project. Therefore, all available resources are concentrated on it right now. The Tempest, being a non-paying job, has to be relegated to "back burner" at the moment. The P-38 should be completed before mid term 2007. At that time, maybe they will have the resources to start work again and complete the Tempest. It will not be original, but it will be flying.

In April 2009 the Webmaster reports:

Has this project finally started? Well, have a look on these photos from Ezell Aviation's website: Click here!

The Webmaster is trying to get in contact with Ezell for more information.
