 Graham's Strange Object -1

When Graham Berry visited INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM 1939-1945 in Holland a small strange object was shown to him that came from the wreckage of Joe Berry's Tempest. Coming from the cockpit area it is a small flattened metal tin/steel bottle/jar, like an ink well with a screw top. An idea is that the container held the water die. (If an aircraft had to ditch in the sea, the pilot would pour this die into the water to leave a coloured mark for the rescue aircraft to see.) Well, I posted this "mystery" at FlyPast's Forum and got a number of replys, all with the same solution: The Cockpit UV-lamps.

This is e.g. Tony Dyers answer:
No glass or wire in that part of the lamp old chap. The guard (brass) would have had glass init which obviously has gone. If you look carefully there will be two small screw holes which were used to scre it to a standard 5C/793 bakelite bulb holder. Your reflector (for want of a better word) has come away form this part (which would have had the wires etc in it). Graham made a sketch of the UV lamp holder, and yes, I´m sure it´s the reflector of the UV-lamps!

 Graham's Strange Object -2

Graham received a picture from Chris Timmer in Holland with more parts of Joe's airplane SD-F. I posted the photo at FlyPast's Forum and got this reply from David Burke:
The one nearest looks like an emergency hand pump -it should have a handle attached at the top which works on a pivot. From memory the Hurricane has the same pump. The other item looks very much like a main u/c retraction jack. Later Chris told Graham that the only part which was from SD-F is the one marked "TEMP V". The others are from a Messerschmitt.... In any case, I found a drawing with the emergency hand pump and there it was! Case solved again!!

 Graham's Strange Object -3

Graham Berry, who is still working hard to find out as much as possible about his relative Joe Berry and his fate, is needing help again.
Graham sent me this photo which is showing a part from the Tempest Mk. V (SD-F EJ600). He has tried to identify this badly damaged part from cut-away drawings and the Tempest II Manual without any luck. Graham's guess is it could be part of the pilots seat or part of the platform holding the a/c radio behind the seat. Anyone who have a GOOD guess?
